A former Assistant Editor at Gourmet Magazine, Melissa A. Trainer (Missy) has more than 25 years of experience in the food and travel writing industry.  As President of Melissa A. Trainer Communications, LLC, Missy uses this wealth of journalistic experience to craft compelling content for her clients.

Her freelance articles have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Associated Press, The Seattle Times, The Oregonian and Real Food. She wrote the content and created the recipes for the Bristol Bay Sockeye consumer website. In Spring 2015, Missy created the Frozen and Canned content for Bristol Bay sockeye and developed recipes to complement that content, incorporating helpful tips and historical photographs from regional archives.

Melissa is currently a Meal Kit contract editor for Amazon. She has written many press releases and website content for the Copper River/Prince William Sound Marketing Association located in Cordova, Alaska. She has also written an array of content for NW Cherries,  Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute,  Alaska Sea Adventures, Tamara Wilson Public Relations, Bavarian Meats and many others.

A resident of Seattle, Missy has lived in Alaska and traveled extensively throughout Alaska, British Columbia, and the Pacific Northwest.
